Service Description

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a method of obtaining hair follicles from the donor area; generally the side and back of head, and then transplanting them to the balding area. FUE extracts each individual hair follicle one by one. One of the most important aspects of performing an FUE Hair Transplant, which also determines whether the surgery is to be successful, is the design and distribution of the hair follicles during their placement. For this reason, when planning a hair transplant, every procedure is unique to each patient and customised to their needs. Factors that should be considered before surgery is commenced are: •The age of the person planning to undergo an FUE Hair Transplant •The extent of the patient’s hair loss; if hair loss is excessive then maybe a two day FUE Hair Transplant is required for desired results •Patients expectations should be discussed in detail. •The number of available follicles a patient has in their donor area •Has the patient’s hair loss stabilised? If not, a future treatment plan should be discussed to ensure results of the surgery can be maintained. It’s also important to understand that the hair growth will be gradual over several months. However, every month the growth and thickness of the hair will increase, with optimum results normally seen between 9–12 months. Once the procedure is complete, the transplanted hair is permanent and will behave like your normal hair.
